Oncology Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Oncology Nurse to provide comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients diagnosed with various cancers, including endometrial, bladder, renal, ovarian, and cervical cancers. Our unit specializes in treatments such as chemotherapy, clinical trials, brachytherapy, and CBI, with a strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient falls management.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients with cancer diagnoses, focusing on both physical and emotional well-being.
• Administer chemotherapy treatments and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
• Participate in clinical trials and assist in data collection and documentation.
• Perform specialized procedures, including brachytherapy and neobladder care.
• Implement infection prevention protocols to ensure a safe care environment.
• Monitor telemetry readings and interpret dysrhythmias, responding appropriately to changes in patient conditions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and utilize rapid response teams as necessary.
• Manage feeding tube care and IV therapy, including blood product administration and central line maintenance.
• Utilize computerized charting systems to accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Med Surg/Tele nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing, with the ability to interpret dysrhythmias and provide appropriate interventions.
• Experience in oncology-specific procedures such as chemotherapy administration and brachytherapy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Preferred certification in Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy.

Work Schedule

Staffing ratios aim for 1:4, but may be adjusted based on unit needs. Weekend shifts are variable depending on departmental requirements, with no set or blocked scheduling requests.

Important Notes

Acute care experience must be current and within the last 12 months. Candidates must have a valid state or compact nursing license at the time of submission. Education must be from an accredited nursing program.
