RN Pre Post Op

RN Pre/Post Op plans, coordinates, and oversees care for patients of any age in the Preop/PACU department. Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the Center's policies. Makes decisions regarding direct patient-care needs and communicates appropriate information to other team members. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the manager, such as serving on committees, participating in quality-improvement audits, and projects. Follow employee health and other personnel and staffing policies. Follow OSHA and other standards for protection against blood-borne pathogens. Follow policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for perioperative nursing care according to accepted standards. Inform Float or PACU Charge Nurse of applicable day-to-day situations. Maintain and demonstrate current skills and knowledge of intravenous therapy, medication administration and effects, patient assessment, airway maintenance, patient teaching, emotional/social support of patients and families, and other needed clinical competencies. Plan, implement, and evaluate pre- and post-operative nursing care for patients based on individual, specific patient needs, and according to physician's orders. Seek anesthesia consult and assistance as needed. Qualifications ACLS—Advanced Cardiac Life Support (within 90 days of hire). BLS or CPR certification (within 90 days of hire). PALS—Pediatric Advanced Life Support (within 1 year of hire). RN—Registered Nurse, licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
