Job Summary and Qualifications

Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, plumbing, carpentry and heating/air conditioning tasks, installing and repairing equipment.

• Inspects, installs and replaces electrical circuits, light sockets, switches and appliances.
• Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment using voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters and other electrical test equipment.
• Installs new electrical wiring and electrical components for machinery.
• Installs conduit as required.
• Dismantles machinery or appliances and disconnects electrical controls to troubleshoot malfunction and determine the nature of the problem and repair as required.
• Maintains records of tests and repairs made to equipment.
• Maintains the emergency power system generator and associated switch gear; keeps records of tests and repairs.
• Maintains the fire alarm system; keeps records of tests and repairs.
• Maintains energy management control systems.
Requirements
Experience
• Graduation from high school or equivalent with supplemental apprentice training or trade school training.
• At least two years of hands-on experience in the electrical trade.
Education
• High School Diploma
• Licenses and Certifications
  • Master or Journeyman/wireman Electrical license through State of Texas, the City of El Paso or equivalent.
