Senior Quality EngineerWe're looking for a Senior Quality Engineer who will play a pivotal role in defining and driving quality across the engineering organization. You'll partner closely with developers, product managers, and infrastructure teams to ensure that every release is reliable, performant, and of the highest standard. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with broad impact — ideal for someone who is local to the Bay Area and excited to collaborate in person with our R&D and leadership teams.*Visa sponsorship is NOT available at this timeWhat You'll Do:Define and own quality strategies, standards, and practices for complex product and platform initiatives.Drive test architecture and tooling — from automated frameworks to CI/CD quality gates.Lead cross-functional quality initiatives that span multiple engineering teams.Collaborate closely with Dev, PM, and UX to shift quality left and catch issues early.Design and implement robust automation for UI, API, and backend systems.Design and implement performance, load, stress, soak, and scalability tests for backend services built on Node.js and MongoDB.Define and automate Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) validation in CI/CD pipelines.Build and extend performance testing frameworks using tools like k6, Artillery, Gatling, JMeter, or custom Node.js scripts.Conduct system profiling and analyze results using tools such as Coralogix, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.Establish performance SLAs and ensure services meet them in production-like environments.Contribute to overall test strategy, especially where performance and resilience intersect with functional quality.Analyze production issues and work with stakeholders to improve monitoring, observability, and incident prevention.What You'll Bring:5+ years in Software Quality Engineering, including experience leading quality for major products or platforms.Strong coding skills in JavaScript/TypeScript or Java — with a deep understanding of modern test automation frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, REST-assured).Deep knowledge of software testing methodologies, performance/load testing, and systems-level thinking.Track record of influencing engineering culture and product quality through leadership and collaboration.Comfortable working in a hybrid setup with the ability to meet onsite with engineering leadership in the Bay Area.Hands on experience with tools like Artillery, JMeter, GatlingHands-on experience with MongoDB performance tuning and profiling.Deep knowledge of REST, microservices architecture, and event-driven systems.Solid understanding of system resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk, network) under load.Experience integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Harness).Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration.Nice to Haves:Experience with containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes).Familiarity with cloud-native architectures (AWS, containers, microservices)Experience working in fintech, accounting, or SaaS B2B domains.Exposure to chaos engineering or failure testing.Knowledge of distributed tracing and profiling tools (e.g., Jaeger, OpenTelemetry).Knowledge of security and compliance testing practices.This job posting is for our Staff Software Development Engineer in Test, the base pay range for this position is $144,000 - $216,000. Compensation is not limited to base salary.
