Position Summary Patient Access Specialist Heart South – 1022 North 1st Street, Suite 500, Alabaster, AL 35007 Full-Time | Day Shift Position Summary Heart South is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support patients through registration, authorization, financial clearance, and scheduling for complex and high-dollar specialty services. This role is essential in ensuring a smooth patient experience while minimizing financial and authorization barriers to care. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Perform patient registration, authorization, and financial clearance for complex and specialty services Verify insurance benefits and obtain required authorizations from payers Collect co-pays, deductibles, coinsurance, and outstanding balances in accordance with department guidelines Explain insurance benefits, financial responsibility, and required documentation to patients and guarantors Accurately gather and enter patient demographic and financial information Build strong working relationships with physicians, clinical teams, and payers to prevent denials and delays Identify and resolve customer service issues while supporting service recovery efforts Monitor, document, and report issues and trends impacting patient access or financial outcomes Screen patients for federal, state, or local assistance programs and complete required applications Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate tests and procedures while maintaining communication with all stakeholders Maintain compliance with federal, state, hospital, and Baptist Health policies and procedures Qualifications Qualifications Education: Associate’s degree preferred Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in customer service, financial services, business, or healthcare required Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive patient information Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to multitask and work effectively in a high-volume environment #J-18808-Ljbffr Baptist-Health
