Staff Pharmacist

The Staff Pharmacist supports the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) by providing prescription verification and quality assurance services in a closed-door, mail-order pharmacy environment. Pharmacists play a key role in ensuring safe, accurate, and timely medication dispensing to Veterans nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

Verify prescription orders including legend drugs, OTC medications, controlled substances, and medical/surgical supplies
Assess medication orders for accuracy, dosing, drug interactions, and appropriateness
Perform final product verification prior to dispensing
Support pre-verification of medications loaded into automated dispensing equipment
Review and verify controlled substance prescriptions (Schedules IIIV)
Supervise and provide guidance to Pharmacy Technicians
Conduct quality assurance checks and report discrepancies (wrong drug, dose, or labeling issues)
Ensure compliance with VA policies, federal regulations, and pharmacy best practices

Work Environment

Closed-door, non-retail mail order pharmacy
Combination of automated and manual dispensing processes
High-volume production setting serving Veterans across the U.S.

Schedule

2nd Shift: 3:30 PM 12:00 AM
MondayFriday operations (overtime/holidays as needed)

Minimum Qualifications

Active Pharmacist license in any U.S.
