Job Description Imaging and Optical Engineer You will be responsible for developing imaging solutions and collecting image data for Alitheon’s Featureprint technology. This work will range from performing initial feasibility experiments for potential customers to developing and deploying systems at customer sites. You will have an ownership stake in managing our imaging lab in order to deliver these solutions. This position will work closely with our Research, Engineering, and Sales/Marketing groups to come up with creative ways to image our customer's parts. Qualifications Here is what we are looking for: Ideally, you’ll have a Bachelor’s in Physics, Optics, E.E., or a related degree with 2+ years of industry experience; alternate experience may be considered. You will be devising imaging systems and need to be familiar with optical and imaging principles such as depth of field, camera gain, exposure value, calibration techniques, illumination techniques, light polarization, etc. You will be working with software packages and libraries such as ImageJ, GIMP, OpenCV and should have familiarity with a scripting language such as Python, Ruby, Matlab, Octave, etc. You will need to be comfortable working with other members of the team—Software or Hardware engineering, researchers, or technical sales engineers—to define what’s needed and then work independently to accomplish the task. You will need to be able to work with component vendors to identify and source equipment that meets project requirements. You will be good at analyzing and documenting the results of your work and may occasionally be called on to communicate these results to customers or teammates in technical presentations.
