AWS Solutions Architect/Developer

ResponsibilitiesPeraton is looking to add an experienced AWS Solutions Architect/Developer to our ongoing development, maintenance, and data engineering team. We support the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Data Engineering and Processing (DEAP) project by providing analyses, solutions and maintenance of many processes that ingest financial market data used across multiple CFTC regulatory and analytical systems, including high‑volume, mission‑critical data ingest pipelines. These processes and the data ingested are critical to the mission of the CFTC. This position requires up to three (3) specific days onsite in the Washington DC facility and two (2) teleworking days per week.What You Will Do:Serve in a technical lead role providing leadership for a small team of data engineers responsible for development, maintenance, and modernization of multiple DEAP ingest loaders.Serve as a member of an Agile team to provide engineering support and maintenance of services and processes that migrate and promote data and algorithms to the AWS cloud environment and supporting cloud databases.Design, code, test and implement AWS cloud-based solutionsWork with the customer and Peraton team on requirements gathering and task estimation.Perform routine data checks, code development and quality checks.Perform database planning, design and implementationPerform systems analysis, design and implementationPerform code reviews and cloud deploymentsProvide regular status updates on progress both within the Agile framework and via weekly status reporting.Work Location: Washington, DCQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar discipline and at least 8 years of experience or a minimum of 6 years experience with a Master’s degree or Minimum of 3 years with PhDFamiliar with tools such as AWS, Lambda, S3, Git, Azure DevOps, EC2, Step Function, Hive, Glue, Spectrum, Athena, S3, SNS SQSStrong experience with databases and programming with SQL, Python, XML, C# .NetStrong experience in analyzing and designing data migration strategies to load data from on-perm data warehouse (SQL Server) to cloud data warehouse (Redshift and RDS).Experience in ETL process using AWS resourcesWorking experience using XML data exchange message formats, required modifications, or extensionsAWS Solutions Architect certifiedMust be a US CitizenMust be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearanceAbility to work on-site at least 3 days a week in Washington, DCPreferred Qualifications:Active Public Trust or other active clearanceMaster’s degree in business, finance, computer science, statistics or related field and 6 years of experienceExperience with microservices, distributed data processing, or event‑driven architectures.Prior experience supporting high‑volume data pipelines in a regulated environment.Experience with troubleshooting ingest failures, rule‑based validation systems, and XML/FIXML transformation workflows.Peraton OverviewPeraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
