Summary

Collaborates with central offices and schools to support an Extended School Year program; develops, monitors, and evaluates student and classroom behavior management framework using functional behavior assessment (FBA) and behavior intervention plan (BIP) processes; applies constructivism learning theory and philosophy to behavior modification, intervention, and de-escalation situations, serves as a liaison with administrators and central office management to support Special Education students; assists teachers with curriculum modification, interpretation of IEP documents, and the implementation of behavior plans; utilizes best practices in teaching to achieve student?s IEP goals; oversees student safety in the classroom; participates in Summer Collaborative Team meetings; maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, regulation, and policy.

Qualifications

Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education and an endorsement in Special Education, with experience in teaching Special Education students. Experience in teaching at the elementary school level, with MANDT and/or PCM certification, preferred. Knowledge of the instructional practices, techniques, and materials pertaining to the assigned teaching specialty; proficiency in technology; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop positive relationships with staff, students, and families; ability to engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and varied skill levels in a collaborative learning environment.
