Maintenance Technician

A large telecommunication company is looking to bring on a Maintenance Technician for a 12-month contract to hire with 5 days a week requirement. This role is responsible for performing handson Layer 1 network build work within lab environments, including cable routing, fittings, equipment wiring, and establishing physical connectivity. Day to day, the technician installs, terminates, tests, and manages coax, Cat5/Cat6, and fiber cabling while supporting ONU installation, connectivity, and physical setup in the lab. The individual labels, identifies, and organizes network equipment, modems, ONUs, and all cabling and patching infrastructure to ensure clarity and consistency. They build and maintain clean, scalable, and welldocumented lab environments, following established standards for cable management, labeling, and physical documentation. In addition, this role supports engineering and testing teams by ensuring all infrastructure is installed correctly, ready for use, and conducive to efficient troubleshooting and repeatable testing, while maintaining ownership of Layer 1 execution quality and collaborating closely with team members. Targeting $45 an hour while on contract.

Required Skills & Experience

Strong handson experience supporting Layer 1 network infrastructure in lab, field, or network environments

Proven experience installing, terminating, testing, and managing coax, Cat5/Cat6, and fiber cabling

Demonstrated knowledge of fiber installation best practices, handling, and safety standards

Experience working with ONUs, including physical installation, connectivity, and troubleshooting

Ability to accurately label, organize, and document physical network builds, equipment, and cabling infrastructure

Familiarity with cable management standards and maintaining clean, scalable, and wellorganized lab environments

Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow established build, labeling, and documentation standards

Ability to work collaboratively with engineering and testing teams while maintaining ownership of Layer 1 build quality
