Surgery - General Physician

Job Title: General Surgeon Physician Specialty: General Surgery Place of Work (City/State): Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Facility Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center Location: One Medical Center Drive Clarksburg WV 26301 Start Date: July 2026 Shift Schedule: Monday through Friday: 7:30 AM 4:00 PM On-call coverage required during evenings, weekends, holidays, and all hours when the clinic is closed On-call provider must be available within 15 minutes by phone and onsite within 60 minutes License: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia No history of revoked, suspended, restricted, or voluntarily surrendered license Certifications: Board Certified / Board Eligible by the American Board of Surgery (ABS) Current BLS and ACLS certifications DEA Certification required NPI Number required Experience needed: 2 years, provider must demonstrate technical proficiency and competency in General Surgery services Special Skills needed: Technical proficiency in General Surgery procedures and patient care Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems Ability to comply with VA credentialing, privileging, HIPAA, patient safety, and infection control requirements Ability to provide on-call surgical consultation and emergency response coverage Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive General Surgery physician services in clinic and operating room settings Arrive on time for all scheduled clinics and surgeries Provide communication of test results in accordance with VA policies Follow all established medication policies and procedures Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions for surgical patients Participate in quality improvement activities, M&M meetings, and staff meetings as required Complete all required QA/QI documentation Maintain compliance with patient safety, infection control, HIPAA, and VA documentation standards Ensure all patient care is properly documented in the VA electronic health record system Supervise and educate Health Profession Trainees (HPTs) when required Prime Physicians is a physician-led, The Joint Commission (TJC) Accredited, ISO 9001 certified and CMMI Level 3 appraised organization.
