We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Government Contract Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist with direct experience supporting the accounting operations of a federal government contractor.
\n
\n
The ideal candidate is highly proficient in QuickBooks Online, understands government contracting accounting requirements, and takes responsibility for maintaining accurate, organized, and audit-ready financial records.
\n
\n
This is a hands-on position requiring someone who can independently manage daily accounting activities, recognize discrepancies, investigate problems, and follow them through resolution.

Key Responsibilities
\n
\n
Bookkeeping & General Accounting
\n
\n
Maintain accurate general ledger records in QuickBooks Online.
\n
\n
Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor payments.
\n
\n
Prepare invoices, record payments, and monitor outstanding receivables.
\n
\n
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
\n
\n
Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
\n
\n
Support monthly and year-end close processes.
\n
\n
Maintain organized accounting documentation and supporting records.
\n
\n
Identify and resolve discrepancies without waiting for management to discover them.
\n
\n
Government Contract Accounting
\n
\n
Maintain financial records by government contract, project, and cost category.
\n
\n
Support government contract invoicing and billing reconciliation.
\n
\n
Review labor charges, timesheets, and payroll allocations for accuracy.
\n
\n
Track direct and indirect expenses and proper cost classifications.
\n
\n
Support compliance with applicable FAR and DCAA accounting requirements.
\n
\n
Assist with fringe, overhead, and G&A expense tracking.
\n
\n
Maintain documentation supporting allowable and unallowable cost classifications.
\n
\n
Support government contract audits and financial reporting requirements.
\n
\n
Coordinate with Project Managers to resolve billing, labor, and expense discrepancies.
\n
\n
Payroll & Financial Support
\n
\n
Review payroll reports and reconcile payroll expenses to the general ledger.
\n
\n
Support Service Contract Act (SCA), Health & Welfare, and prevailing wage accounting.
\n
\n
Assist with payroll adjustments and related accounting entries.
\n
\n
Maintain accurate employee expense
