Risk.net is seeking an energetic and insightful journalist to cover risk management, based in New York with hybrid working. The ideal candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about finance, technology and law, with a talent for bringing complex topics to life, and the ability to combine the best elements of trade and mainstream financial journalism to produce must-read articles that stand out from the crowd. They should be equally adept at breaking news and writing in-depth, long-form features. A proven ability to build and maintain strong source relationships is a must. Risk.net covers financial institutions and markets for a professional audience, including senior executives at banks, hedge funds and regulators. The risk management desk is central to this effort, with a remit that spans the globe. Responsibilities Be part of a team covering risk management in the financial sector Cultivate industry sources to generate a steady stream of leads Contribute news, profiles and feature articles to Risk.net Collaborate with journalists and editors across our five editorial desks and three international bureaus The role would suit a specialist technology or finance journalist looking for the next step in their career. Knowledge of the financial industry and its major players is a plus, as is a good understanding of technology-related topics such as AI and cyber security. Impeccable writing skills and a knack for explaining complex topics in plain English. An ability to write with flair and, when appropriate, a sense of humour would be a bonus!
