Data Service Architect, Network Planning

Requisition Number: 20269 Contract Type: Permanent Location(s): McLean, VA, US Data Service Architect, Network Planning Position Overview We are seeking experienced Service Architects to design, develop, and evolve end-to-end service architectures across our global network and satellite portfolio. These roles will play a critical part in translating business and customer requirements into scalable, reliable, and cost-effective service solutions. The Service Architects will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, product management, and commercial teams to ensure service offerings are technically sound, operationally viable, and aligned with existing and planned infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Design end-to-end service architectures spanning space, ground, and terrestrial network domains Translate customer and business requirements into detailed technical service designs Define service models, workflows, and operational processes (fulfillment, assurance, lifecycle management) Collaborate with: Network Engineering (capacity, topology, platforms) Product & Commercial teams (service definition and packaging) Operations (NOC, service delivery, support readiness) Develop standardized service templates and design frameworks to accelerate delivery Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, resilience, and security requirements Support cost modeling and business case development for new services Participate in customer engagements as the technical authority when needed Contribute to technology roadmaps and architectural strategy Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field 8+ years of experience in telecommunications, networking, or satellite services Proven experience in service architecture / solution design Strong understanding of: IP networking (MPLS, VPNs, routing protocols) Satellite communications and ground infrastructure Network service delivery models and lifecycle Experience with end-to-end service design across multiple domains Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business-aligned solutions Strong stakeholder management and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in satellite operators, service providers, or global network environments Familiarity with: Media architecture to include both Occassional and Dedicated solutions SDN / NFV architectures Network orchestration and automation platforms Cloud networking and hybrid architectures Knowledge of ITIL or service management frameworks Experience with product development and service commercialization Exposure to MEF standards or similar service frameworks Key Competencies Strategic thinking and system-level design Cross-functional collaboration Problem-solving in complex technical environments Customer-focused solutioning Strong written and verbal communication Why This Role Matters These positions are critical to enabling the company’s next-generation service portfolio , ensuring we can deliver scalable, high-performance connectivity solutions to customers globally while optimizing network efficiency and cost. The salary range for this full-time position is $83,520 - $120,600 Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and geographic location. Individual compensation within the range is determined based on work location and a variety of factors, including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and relevant education or training. Additional compensation and benefits may apply depending on the location and terms of employment.
