Job Description
The Quality Technician supports the execution and continuous improvement of quality processes across the Rosenberg Plant and Distribution Center. Working closely with Production, Distribution Center Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other functional teams, this position helps ensure that incoming materials, work-in-process, and finished products meet internal requirements, customer specifications, and applicable quality and regulatory standards before release or shipment.
The Quality Technician performs inspections, maintains quality records, manages nonconformance documentation, supports root-cause investigations and corrective actions, and helps sustain the company’s Quality Management System. This position serves as an important connection between quality engineering requirements and shop-floor execution by ensuring that established quality processes are consistently followed, accurately documented, and effectively maintained.
The Quality Technician ensures that quality activities and decisions are supported by complete and accurate information, reinforcing the principle that Data is the Source of Truth . The position also supports Engineering, Quality, and Compliance initiatives that contribute to WireCo’s operational objectives and Five-Year Strategic Growth Plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the effective implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001, applicable API Q1 requirements, company procedures, and customer specifications.
- Execute established quality processes to verify that materials and products meet internal, customer, regulatory, and contractual requirements before release or shipment.
- Perform receiving, in-process, final, and pre-shipment inspections in accordance with approved procedures, specifications, control plans, inspection plans, work instructions, and customer requirements.
- Use appropriate inspection, testing, and measurement equipment to evaluate product characteristics and document inspection results.
- Verify product identification, labeling, packaging, preservation, quantity, reel condition, and traceability before product release or shipment.
- Identify suspect or nonconforming material and initiate appropriate containment, segregation, and material-hold activities.
- Maintain accurate identification, status, and physical segregation of held, rejected, rework, scrap, and other nonconforming materials.
- Initiate, document, track, and support the timely closure of Nonconformance Reports.
- Coordinate nonconforming-product disposition activities, including rework, scrap, return, and use-as-is dispositions, within established procedures and approval-authority requirements.
- Support First Article Inspections, Production Part Approval Process requirements, and related quality documentation when applicable.
- Perform or support routine root-cause investigations using approved problem-solving methods, including 5 Why analysis.
- Support corrective and preventive actions by documenting assigned activities, monitoring completion dates, and verifying implementation.
- Escalate significant or recurring quality, compliance, traceability, or product-release concerns to the Quality Manager and appropriate operational leadership.
- Support internal, customer, regulatory, and certification audits by assisting with preparation, participation, documentation, corrective-action tracking, and follow-up activities.
- Maintain complete and accurate inspection records, test results, quality records, work instructions, forms, and other controlled documents.
- Ensure traceability of materials, work orders, inspection results, and quality records throughout the manufacturing and distribution processes.
- Track, analyze, and report assigned quality performance indicators, including nonconformances, customer issues, scrap, rework, first-time yield, material holds, and recurring defect trends.
- Compile quality data and identify trends, patterns, and recurring issues requiring further review or corrective action.
- Support supplier-quality investigations, documentation, containment, and follow-up activities as assigned.
- Assist with updates to Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses, control plans, inspection plans, work instructions, and risk assessments.
- Support the implementation and standardization of quality processes across manufacturing and Distribution Center operations.
- Assist with training employees on new or revised quality procedures, inspection requirements, documentation practices, and process controls.
- Communicate inspection results, nonconformances, containment requirements, and quality concerns clearly and promptly to Production, Distribution Center Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and leadership.
- Participate in continuous-improvement activities focused on product quality, process capability, waste reduction, standardization, and operational effectiveness.
- Support additional manufacturing, engineering, compliance, and quality activities at the Rosenberg Plant and Distribution Center as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field or a minimum of two years hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial quality environment
- Experience supporting manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution operations.
- Basic knowledge of quality inspection, root-cause analysis, corrective-action, containment, and nonconformance processes.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, specifications, procedures, inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and customer requirements.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or a comparable Quality Management System.
- Ability to use basic quality measurement, testing, and inspection equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to accurately enter, maintain, analyze, and report quality data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with production employees, technical personnel, and leadership.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, records, and follow-up activities.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to product quality, safety, accuracy, and data integrity.
- Ability to work independently within established procedures and escalate matters that exceed assigned authority.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in wire, wire rope, metals, fabrication, or another industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting both manufacturing and distribution center operations.
- Familiarity with API Q1 requirements.
- Experience with Production Part Approval Processes, First Article Inspections, control plans, and quality documentation.
- Experience supporting internal, customer, certification, or regulatory audits.
- Experience using enterprise resource planning systems such as JD Edwards.
- Experience using electronic Quality Management Systems such as Intelex.
- Experience creating or maintaining quality dashboards, performance reports, and data-tracking tools.
- Familiarity with Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and other risk-assessment methods.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in office, warehouse, shipping, receiving, and manufacturing environments.
- Must comply with all company safety requirements and properly use required personal protective equipment, which may include metatarsal safety footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other designated equipment.
- Must be able to work safely around powered industrial equipment, stored materials, production machinery, testing equipment, and vehicle traffic.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout warehouse and production areas for extended periods.
- Must be able to visually inspect products, labels, documentation, and measurement results.
- May occasionally be required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
