About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Description: The unit has a total of 35 beds and a staff of 160. On day shifts, there are 2 charge nurses, 24 RNs, 5 Surgical Techs, 1 OR Aide, 1 Transport Tech, 1 Secretary, and 1 Scheduler. On night shifts, there are 2 charge nurses and 21 RNs, with 4 Surgical Techs, 1 OR Aide, 1 Secretary. Patient ratios are 1:1 or 2:1 for laboring, 2:1 for Antepartum, and 2:1 for PACU. The equipment used includes Hill-Rom birthing beds, Alaris IV pumps, GE core metrics Fetal Monitors, Panda warmers, CADD Solis epidural pumps, and NOVI wireless Fetal Monitors. The Electronic Medical Record system utilized is CPN (Centricity) and Meditech. Typical procedures performed on the unit include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, PACU recovery, and antepartum care/testing with continuous electronic fetal monitoring. The dress code includes royal blue scrubs. Unit guidelines/policies encompass protocols for Pitocin, cervical ripening, as well as magnesium sulfate, hydralazine, and labetalol. This unit has received a Baby Friendly Designation. Additional appealing factors include 13 Bed Client Assessment Center for triage of pregnant patients and 24/7 ancillary services, including anesthesia, neonatal support, laborist, and hospitalist.
