Schedule: Thursday, Friday, Sunday (6am - 6pm)
Location: Calabasas, CA

Position Summary

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides direct nursing care and medication support to adolescents receiving residential treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. This role works closely with the multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure the safety, medical stability, and overall well-being of clients while supporting individualized treatment plans in a structured residential setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor medications in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols
• Perform medication counts, documentation, and reconciliation in compliance with regulatory standards
• Monitor client health status, vital signs, and withdrawal symptoms as applicable
• Observe, assess, and report changes in client behavior, mood, or physical condition to clinical staff
• Provide nursing support for adolescents with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders
• Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies following established procedures
• Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation, including MARs, vitals, incident reports, and shift notes
• Coordinate care with physicians, psychiatrists, therapists, and direct care staff
• Assist with client admissions, discharges, and health screenings
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and medication storage standards
• Support a trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and therapeutic milieu
• Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to ethical and confidentiality standards (HIPAA)

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted California LVN license (or applicable state license)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience preferred; experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, or adolescent care strongly preferred
• Experience working with dual diagnosis populations (mental health and substance use disorders) a plus
• Current CPR/First Aid certification
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications commonly prescribed to adolescents
• Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced residential environment
• Ability to pass background check, TB clearance, and other pre-employment requirements

Compensation

• Compensation: $33/hr.

Work Environment

This position is based in a licensed adolescent residential treatment facility and involves regular interaction with youth in treatment, clinical staff, and families. The LVN must be comfortable working within a structured, team-oriented, and safety-focused environment.
