Registered NurseCompensation: $29.02 to $38.46Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for clinical care within the Reproductive Medicine and Immunology Service (RMI). The RN's responsibilities are under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Reproductive Medicine and Immunology. Full time staff are eligible for 3 weeks of vacation/ personal leave, 15 sick days, and 9 paid holidays, paid winter break, plus two floating holidays.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPatient Care Role:Assists physician with office-based proceduresFunctions as a liaison between the patient and the RMI ProvidersEnsures that all assigned patient care needs are met and that patients are seen on a timely basis by ensuring appointment schedule is followed. Informs practitioners of any delaysCan be a resource to troubleshoot clinical issues arising throughout the day that are related to patient care. Under the direction and guidance of the RN's supervisor, may work with other departments (clinical lab, revenue cycle, front desk operations, etc.) to resolve themMay communicate and coordinate with PSR staff regarding new patient scheduling, addresses patient inquiries regarding the Reproductive Medicine programMay attend provider and clinical staff meetings as appropriateRegistered Nurse Role/Responsibilities:RN support for RMI Providers (sends out lab orders; ships kits as needed; responds to patient portals as forwarded by APPs)Reviews all daily lab appointments and determines necessary lab testingOrder entry for all daily lab appointments and follow up with patients with lab resultsReviews new patient charts for previous history; under the direction/supervision of the RMI Providers, determines applicable existing diagnosisAddresses messages on the RN lineUnder the direction and guidance of the RMI Providers, sets up and monitored IVIG infusionsAssists with difficult blood draws or IV starts, as appropriateDispense medications per the RMI Provider's orders and administers IM injectionsPatient education for Subcutaneous (SQ) and Intramuscular(IM) injectionPatient education for medication, follow-up schedule, and treatment plan as determined by the RMI ProvidersSubmits prior authorization for standard medicationsSets up Gyne examinations as directed and guided by the RMI ProvidersPerforms other related duties as assigned or delegatedConditions of EmploymentMust achieve satisfactory results from a background check.Compliance with the current clinic vaccination policy.Required Education & Experience3-5 years' nursing experience in a physician practice, ambulatory, or hospital setting, reproductive medicine service preferredPerioperative Services (ASU/PACU/OR) experience preferredActive State of Illinois RN License required, BSN degree preferredExcellent phlebotomy and IV skillsBLS Certification Required with ACLS PreferredRequired Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesAbility to work as a member of a team and to interact effectively and maintain collegial relationships with administration, faculty, staff, and studentsStrong work ethic and high-level integrityAbility to work independently and as part of a team; set priorities; multitaskAbility to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize responsibilities, and handle detailed job tasks with accuracy and efficiencyAbility to maintain composure in stressful situationsKnowledge of medical terminologyExcellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to work/interact with diverse populations; show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, strong customer service orientationComputer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat, previous EMR software experienceDemonstrate a commitment to confidentiality and the ability to work with sensitive information, records, and reportsAbility to treat sensitive/confidential information with appropriate discretionFlexible, adaptable, and able to exercise sound judgementSelf-starter, self-directed, and excellent time management skillsAbility to continually learn additional systems and software in order to ensure adequate support for RFUHC/CILProven problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and develop process improvement with a drive for quality outcomesProficient use of computer software, including Microsoft Office and Google SuiteTypical Physical Demands & Working ConditionsMust have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.EOE, Including Disability / Vets
