Radiologic Technologist

The Acute Care Radiology Technologist provides healthcare services, performing X-ray procedures to assist in diagnosis or treatment. The role involves producing images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Radiographic exams will be performed as requested by healthcare providers. Fluoroscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures will be performed alongside a radiology provider. The technologist will assist with patient education regarding preparation and post-care for radiology procedures. Support with fluoroscopically guided procedures will also be part of the responsibilities. Documentation necessary for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams must be completed. The role includes participating in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of hospital quality indicators. Training and education for radiography students, new hires, and other radiology technicians will be conducted as needed. Demonstrating sound judgment, patience, and maintaining a professional demeanor is essential. The technologist must be able to handle challenging situations and effectively communicate with patients and families. Physical requirements include the ability to lift, push, pull, and carry equipment or supplies as necessary. Role may require working beyond a standard workweek, including weekends and after-hours. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, and potentially infectious diseases is a possibility. Emotionally challenging situations may also be encountered while interacting with patients and families.
