Senior AccountantWe are partnering with an established manufacturer in Des Moines, IA to staff a Senior Accountant position. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will play a key part in the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional financial analysis. This is a full-time, direct hire role that is onsite at their Des Moines facility but offers a flexible daytime M-F work schedule and opportunities for advancement. A competitive salary and benefits package is offered in a team-oriented and supportive work environment.Senior Accountant Responsibilities:Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis, and month-end close activitiesAssist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processesServe as a key contributor for lease accounting, sales and use tax preparation and filing, and various financial reporting projectsPartner with internal stakeholders to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-makingIdentify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controlsSupport compliance initiatives, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, control documentation, and policy adherenceAnalyze business performance and provide meaningful financial insights to leadershipAssist with tax schedules, state sales reporting, and other ad hoc accounting projectsCollaborate across departments to improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial informationRequirements for Senior Accountant:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field - 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with manufacturing industry experience preferred - Experience supporting or leading the month-end close process - Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and financial analysis - Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong ERP skills. Power BI and AI skills a plus - Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, communication, and problem-solving skills - Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment
