Description: Job Title: Fabrication Operator Department: Fabrication Reports To: Shift Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Travel: 0 Job Summary The Fabrication Operator is in charge of fabricating, assembling, and insulating machinery using a variety of tools and equipment according to a required specification. Further, the position is to perform tasks involved in repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical systems on all production machines and equipment. The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter, a good time manager, work independently, and follow Altor Solutions’ standards for safety and conduct. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Associates at this level are expected to have developed a trade of expertise and can work independently in the performance of standard maintenance and repairs. The following list of major duties represents a composite list of typical duties performed by individuals in this position. Specific duties performed by the incumbent will vary depending upon the facility and/or department within the Company. Fabricate components using tools such as lathes, boring machines, mills, plate rollers, grinders, drill presses, and press brakes (experience on each of these tools is not required to start) Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, charts, diagrams Use hoists, drills, hand tools, holding devices, cutters, power tools, and welding equipment Test run machines and observe machine operations Perform inspections including pressure and flow tests Change worn machine accessories, such as cutting tools and brushes Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specifications Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures Responsible for general maintenance duties on building and machines; including troubleshooting to determine. Responsible for following Plant-specified job specifications, task list, and completion of all required paperwork. Responsible for conducting him/herself safely and adhering to all required safety protocols and policies, including lockout/tagout. Required to wear PPE properly in accordance with company standards. Keep the area around your workstation clean and free from dirt and debris; this may include cleaning assigned areas of the building or pieces of equipment as instructed by your supervisor. Must be able to work assigned shifts, including working overtime and attending after-hours meetings as needed. All other duties as assigned. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk and required to reach with hands and arms and stoop/crouch, bend or twist. The employee is occasionally required to push, pull, and/or move material and work in awkward positions, such as underneath equipment, or working around machines in operations area. Work Environment The work environment is typical of most manufacturing environments. The noise level in the work environment is usually high with ear protection required as posted.
