Company Licensing Analyst

Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of the Supervisor I of the Company Licensing Unit, the Analyst I is responsible for reviewing and processing liability insurance documentation, tracking policy expirations, and issuing suspension notices to licensees who fail to comply with statutory requirements under the Business and Professions Code. The role also includes reviewing and processing Locksmith and Proprietary Private Security Employer applications, as well as monitoring corporate and LLC standing with the Franchise Tax Board and Secretary of State to determine when license suspensions are warranted. The Analyst I prepares and sends correspondence, updates records in the BreEZe licensing system, and reinstates licenses once compliance is met. Additionally, the position provides customer service to applicants and licensees, assists with inquiries at the public counter, and supports the unit with general office tasks and document processing.

Working Conditions

Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview. However, they must reside in the State of California once they are hired and start working.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee's monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period as outlined on "Section 2113 - Personal Leave Program (PLP)" of the CalHR Manual. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.

The incumbent works in an office setting, with artificial light and temperature control. The ability to use a personal computer and telephone is essential. The position requires bending and stooping whenever it is necessary to retrieve files. Ability to professionally and courteously handle calls/correspondence of various tones and temperaments from the public (including licensees) is essential. Regular attendance and punctuality are an essential part of this job.

Special Requirements

Criminal Offender Record Information: Title 11, section 703 (d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Pursuant to this requirement, applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring. In accordance to DCA's (CORI) procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position. Additionally, the position routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program materials at all times.

The incumbent must work well with other staff in the Bureau and the Department and maintain privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program matters at all times. The incumbent must possess good interpersonal skills, good judgment in decision-making, good communication, tact, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills. The incumbent must be responsive to management needs and be aware of potential precedent-setting decisions that could have state-wide impact. Regular and consistent attendance is required. Travel may be required.
