Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

Seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our medical-surgical team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a diverse patient population, including those in a correctional setting. This role requires effective communication and adaptability to meet the unique challenges presented in this environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on the medical-surgical unit.
• Monitor patient health and vital signs, ensuring timely interventions as necessary.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Participate in holiday rotation, working three of the six major holidays each year.
• Support and educate patients and their families regarding health management and preventative care.
• Float to other medical/surgical or telemetry units, including forensics and inpatient units, as needed.

Qualifications

• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH, and CPI (MAB accepted in lieu of CPI).
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a medical-surgical setting.
• Comfortable working with a prison population and in a variety of clinical environments.
• Ability to work a night shift (3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00).

Patient Care Ratio

The goal for patient care is a ratio of 4:1, with the potential for up to 6:1 based on patient needs and unit demands.

Work Schedule

This position is for a night shift, consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week. Block schedules are not available.
