Food Service Cook

This position is open for competitive hiring at the Hualapai Adult Detention Center. The salary is determined on an as-needed basis. The role is full-time and the application process is open until filled.

The responsibilities include directing the food service operation in an adult or juvenile facility, maintaining safety and security, and performing related duties as assigned. Examples of work performed include promoting a diverse and culturally competent workplace, planning and approving menus, purchasing food and supplies, coordinating commodity orders, maintaining inventory, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and supervising kitchen staff.

Minimum qualifications require a high school diploma or equivalent and five or more years of experience in commercial or institutional cooking. Supervisory responsibility includes overseeing up to three cooks. The work environment involves standing or walking for extended periods, repeated bending and stooping, and lifting kitchen equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 pounds or more.

Knowledge of institutional food service operations, nutrition concepts, food handling and storage, hygiene and sanitation standards, and the ability to train and supervise staff are required. Additional skills include menu planning, large-scale meal preparation, and the use of various kitchen tools and equipment. Necessary requirements include a valid Arizona driver's license, eligibility for the Tribe's insurance, a favorable background investigation, and no felonies, pending cases, or domestic violence offenses.
