RN - Stepdown

Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a challenging position in a Cardiac/Intermediate Care Unit. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team and be responsible for providing high-quality patient care for cardiac patients primarily in a stepdown unit.

Shift Information

• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12-hour shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Stepdown
• Number of Beds: 36
• Nurse-Patient Ratios: Days 1:4, Nights 1:5
• Common Patient Diagnoses: CHF, NSTEMI, MI, heart block, pacemaker, TAVR, CABG recovery, and respiratory failure.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of nursing experience.
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS - AHA or APEX.
• Experience with PCU/Stepdown/Telemetry is required.
• Preference for candidates with experience in TAVR and CABG procedures.
• Travelers must have successfully completed at least one prior assignment.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for patients with cardiac conditions.
• Administer medications including but not limited to amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitroglycerin, and insulin.
• Monitor patient telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms.
• Occasional floating may be required to ICU or medical-surgical units within the patient population.
• Participate in unit orientation and education programs, including 1 day of clinical education and 1 day of floor orientation.

Additional Information

• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend days per month.
• Holiday Requirement: 3 out of 5 holidays.
• Unit has both nurse aids and patient care technicians to assist with patient care duties.
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue.
