Background DetailsWe are growing – expanding our customer reach and market share!As an Underwriting Sr. Consultant for Lincoln's Executive Benefits Team, you will support employer owned life insurance programs focused on executive and employee benefit funding solutions. This role underwrites COLI/BOLI/ICOLI programs while ensuring strong risk selection, regulatory compliance, and institutional underwriting discipline.The ideal candidate brings deep COLI expertise, medical and financial underwriting judgment, and the ability to partner effectively with sales, product, case management, and reinsurance teams.What you'll be doingUnderwrite Guaranteed Issue (GI) and Simplified Issue (SI) COLI cases in accordance with carrier guidelines and program parameters Analyze lives within executive and broad based COLI/BOLI/ICOLI programsDetermine appropriate ratings, underwriting actions, and capacity decisionsReview compensation data, employee classifications, and benefit structuresAssess financial justification consistent with employer owned life insurance standardsEnsure policy face amounts align with program intent and eligibility requirementsUnderwrite in compliance with IRC §101(j) notice and consent requirementsEnsure adherence to carrier COLI governance standards and underwriting guidelinesSupport internal review committees and large case decision processesPerform medical underwriting as requiredApply thorough knowledge of Qualified Purchaser and Accredited Investor definitions to support program eligibility, structure, and regulatory alignmentBuilds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external partnersWhat we’re looking forMust-have experience (required):Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience5-7+ years of experience in Underwriting Individual Life Insurance Demonstrated Excellence in: Problem Solving / Analysis; Comprehension of Complex Information; Influencing Others; Risk Assessment; Demonstrated decision making using sound judgment; Negotiation Skills; Managing ConflictDeveloped Skills in analyzing and interpreting complex financial documents including profit/loss statements, income statements, and balance sheetsStrong Written and Verbal Communication skillsIntermediate in: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)A demonstrated track record of working with minimal supervision, being a self-starter and working with others in a team environmentNice-to-have experience (preferred): Industry Exams – LOMA encouragedWhat you will Learn, Do, Become:Build Financial Acumen skills on Complex Financial TopicsBecome a Subject Matter Expert in an area of industry interestLearn to deepen Innovative SkillsParticipated in Agency/Customer VisitsOpportunities to Learn, Grow, PromoteApplication DeadlineApplications for this position will be accepted through August 31, 2026, subject to earlier closure due to applicant volume.What’s it like to work here?At Lincoln Financial, we love what we do. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.
