Key Position Details:

Float Pool is challenging, fun and a great way to learn a lot of different skills, technology, disease processes and sub-specialties of various units. If you are independent, like variety, are flexible to change course quickly, a fast learner, comfortable asking questions and have previous hospital experience, it may be a good fit for you. You will know big picture of how the hospital works. Milli, New Graduate RN, states "I learn something new each shift because I get to experience a variety of different environments! Being in the Float Pool helps me helps me grow as a nurse!" There is a $2.00 hourly Float Pool differential on top of base pay (and any shift/weekend differentials), so something to think about as well. Abbott's Med Surg Float Pool can go to: Inpatient Rehab, Short Stay Observation, Med Surg Oncology, Med Surg GIGU, Med Surg Renal, the Med Surg Progressive Care Unit, Spine, Ortho, Neuro, Telemetry and Vascular Telemetry. The Med Surg Float Pool has a great team of RNs and NAs!

Tier 1: Current Med Surg Float Pool Nurse

Tier 2: Inpatient nurses greater than 1-year of experience

Tier 3: New grads or nurses with long term care experience

0.9 FTE (72 hours per two-week pay period)

12-hour permanent night shifts

Every 3rd weekend rotation

Job Description:

Nursing is the assessment and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient's care needs. Provides nursing care across patient care departments in alignment with the nurses experience and competencies.

• Comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; supervising the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.
• Maintains education and competencies to remain proficient to provide high quality patient care practice and skills.
• Incorporates evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care.
• Establishes, in the collaboration with the family and patient, realistic and measurable patient expected outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patients present and potential capabilities, goals, available resources and plan for continuity of care.
• Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
• Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates appropriately to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion.
• Fulfills all organizational requirements.
• Supplemental roles:
• Charge Nurse (only when acting in this role). Demonstrates ability to coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operation, collaborates effectively with unit staff, leadership and other disciplines.
• Preceptor (only when acting in this role). Demonstrates ability to identify the orientee's learning needs, plans appropriate learning experiences and demonstrates ability to validate clinical competence of orientee.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's or Vocational degree

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Professional RN experience
• Medical/Surgical experience

Licenses/Certifications:

• Licensed Registered Nurse MN Board of Nursing required if working in state of MN upon hire / WI Department of Safety & Professional Services required if working in the state of WI upon hire
• Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)
• Certified Medical Surgical RN (CMSRN) preferred
• Additional certifications may be needed at certain sites: Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)

Physical Demands:

• Medium Work*: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range:

$44.64 to $74.33 per hour The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
