Patient Care TechnicianDo you have a passion for helping others while ensuring the highest standards of care?Gateway Rehab Center (GRC) is seeking a dedicated full-time Patient Care Technician to join our team at the REST program in Ohioville, PA. You will have the primary responsibility of monitoring patient medication self-administration and therapeutic treatments.As a Patient Care Technician, you will be an integral part of a compassionate healthcare team dedicated to providing high-quality and personalized care to individuals. This position receives frequent supervision and instruction.ResponsibilitiesCompletes medication self-administration trainingMonitors patient medication self-administration and therapeutic treatmentsEnsures medication documentation is accurate and completeEnsures patients are adhering to policies and procedures and safe medication practicesConducts patient education on safe medication practicesConducts medication cart auditsFacilitates discussion groups and activitiesMonitors patient behaviorDocuments observations, patient care, and patient interactionsCoordinates and collaborates with all departments as necessaryConducts handbook orientationConducts searches of patient belongings, rooms and personActs as a liaison between clinical staff, medical staff, and patientsAssists patients in completion of patient assessment formsAssists with phone calls to family members/friends and referral sourcesAssists with crises interventionDrives patients to and from appointments, support groups, activities or other travel as assignedDocuments involvement with patients in progress notesCollects urine and completes paperwork for drug screening as necessaryProvides post-discharge contacts/referrals under therapist directionCompletes intake paperwork as neededMonitors clients' ADLs - including chores, behaviors, and grooming issuesAttend mandatory GRC trainingsOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to monitor self-administer medication with proper competencies. Training will be provided.Ability to adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.Ability to convey information clearly and concisely.Ability to listen to patients without judgement.Ability to show empathy and understanding to patients.RequirementsHigh School diploma or equivalent.Medical Assistant/Nursing Assistant/CNA/Medication Technician or EMT experience preferred.Other RequirementsPass a PA Criminal Background Check.Obtain a PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting clearances.Pass Drug Screen.2-Step TB Test.CPR/First Aid training.A clean driving record which allows the ability to drive patients to and from appointments, support groups, activities or other travel as assigned.If living a life of recovery, you must attest to at least 18 months in recovery from substance use disorder.Work ConditionsThis position requires mandatory staffing coverage when necessary to provide a safe treatment environment for Gateway residents.Required to remain awake and alert while on duty.Facility treating those with substance use disorders.Favorable working conditions.Minimal physical demand.Moderate mental demands to respond to patients' simultaneous requests.Minimal/moderate risk of exposure to blood and body fluids and minimal risk of exposure to respiratory infectious agents.GRC is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
