Government Contract Accountant Accounts Receivable

TerraPower is seeking a Government Contract Accountant Accounts Receivable. The Government Contract Accountant Accounts Receivable will be responsible for reviewing billable charges in compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) for all contract types. The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive knowledge in GAAP, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and user experience in Oracle and Concur.

Responsibilities include preparing invoices for all types of government contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms and FAR, identifying unallowable costs, reviewing government travel for compliance, ensuring proper coding of GL/department/project billable codes in NetSuite, providing timely reports for project managers and the project management organization, ensuring all collections are current, monitoring AR aging and performing AR reconciliation, working closely with stakeholders to resolve issues related to billing and payment of invoices/bills, submitting invoices electronically per customer requirements and system, supporting month end close, general ledger accounting including account reconciliations and journal entry posting, AR file maintenance, implementing policies and procedures to help improve efficiencies, performing moderately complex accounting tasks/analysis, categorizing data for reporting and audit purpose, applying general knowledge of accounting/government policies and procedures when responding to written and verbal inquiries from stakeholders, supporting audits for allowable and unallowable costs, and supporting government property tracking.

Key qualifications and skills include a S. degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant business experience; minimum of five years of experience in an accounting or finance environment; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to additional financial and accounting systems; knowledge of direct and indirect costs, including the identification of allowable and unallowable expenses, particularly related to travel compliance; working knowledge of government grants and/or government contracts is preferred; highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to accuracy; demonstrate ownership and accountability, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment; public company experience and familiarity with related accounting processes are strongly preferred; ability to quickly learn new information, systems, and technologies; comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing priorities; strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with operations teams and non-accounting stakeholders while managing complex accounting, project, and organizational codes; strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues in a timely manner; proven ability to prioritize tasks, plan work activities, and manage deadlines effectively; team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, multidisciplinary environment; high level of integrity, trust, and professionalism, with a commitment to open communication, mutual respect, and fostering a collaborative team culture.

Job functions include motor abilities such as sitting for extended periods, bending/stooping, grasping/gripping, fine motor control (hands); physical exertion and/or requirements with minimal ability to safely lift up to 25 pounds; repetitive work with prolonged duration; special senses with visual and audio focused work; work conditions with stairs, typing/keyboard, standard and/or sitting working environment of >8 hours/day; travel required 0-10%.
