RN Emergency Department

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department (ED RN) provides skilled nursing care to adult and pediatric patients in a high-acuity, 56-bed acute care hospital ED. This role requires expertise in cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, medication administration, neurological, orthopedic, pediatric, psychiatric, and respiratory care. The nurse collaborates within the interdisciplinary team to deliver emergency care, perform patient assessments, and respond to critical situations. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and certifications including ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC are required. Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois or in application process with ETA to apply.
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC.
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, medication administration, and emergency nursing skills.
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical record system.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in a Level I trauma center environment.
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction and complex emergency cases.
• Comfort with pediatric and psychiatric emergency care.

Special Considerations:

• Work in a combined adult and pediatric Emergency Department.
• No on-call requirement.
• Floating outside scope is not required.
• Parking permit required, provided at no cost.
• Must be able to work every other weekend.
• RTO restrictions ideally no more than 5 days.
• Guaranteed hours with potential for call-offs up to 36 hours per thirteen weeks without pay; excess cancellations billed.

Scheduling:

• Three 12-hour shifts per week, typically 1900 to 0730 (night shift).
• Weekend work every other weekend is required.
• Block scheduling requests can be discussed with manager.
