Plant Manager

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead daily operations at a high-volume manufacturing facility in Chicago. This role oversees production, quality, maintenance, staffing, safety, and plant performance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can develop teams, improve processes, and deliver consistent results.ResponsibilitiesLead daily plant operations to meet production, quality, and delivery goals.Manage and develop hourly and salaried employees across production, quality, and maintenance.Set production schedules and staffing plans that support efficient use of labor and equipment.Use lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, control costs, and increase throughput.Monitor labor efficiency, scrap, downtime, and other plant performance measures.Maintain compliance with applicable workplace safety and environmental requirements, including OSHA and EPA regulations.Partner with procurement, product development, and operations leaders on materials, capacity planning, and new product launches.Lead hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.Communicate plant results, risks, and improvement opportunities to senior leadership.QualificationsAt least 7 years of progressive manufacturing operations experience, including 3 or more years as a Plant Manager or General Manager.Experience leading a large hourly workforce in a high-volume production environment.Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methods.Experience managing plant budgets and production costs.Knowledge of workplace safety and environmental requirements.Strong communication and team leadership skills.Bilingual English and Spanish skills strongly preferred.Experience in mattress, furniture, or soft goods manufacturing is a plus.BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experience.Medical, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) plan with company match.Paid holidays and paid time off.Employee referral bonus program.Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
