Job Description

This role involves operating a variety of precision machining equipment, including centerless grinders, drill machines, hone machines, and milling machines, to produce high-quality metal parts for medical device applications in a brand-new machining facility. You will follow detailed work instructions and blueprints, use precision measurement tools to verify product quality, and contribute to a safe, efficient, and highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate centerless grinders, drill machines, hone machines, milling machines, and other production equipment to manufacture metal components for medical device use.
• Set up machines using provided work instructions and blueprints, ensuring correct tooling, fixtures, and parameters where applicable.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and manuals to determine machining requirements, dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations.
• Use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools to inspect parts and verify that they meet dimensional and quality specifications.
• Monitor machines during operation, make basic adjustments as needed, and identify issues such as tool wear, dimensional deviations, or equipment malfunctions.
• Follow standardized production processes to maintain consistent output, quality, and efficiency across all assigned machines.
• Document production data, inspection results, and any deviations according to established procedures and work instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with facility standards and safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot machining issues, improve processes, and support continuous improvement efforts.
• Handle metal parts and materials carefully to prevent damage and ensure traceability throughout the manufacturing process.

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and related gauges.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical manuals.
• Hands-on experience with machine operation, including grinders, mills, and other production equipment.
• Basic math skills to perform measurements, calculations, and dimensional checks.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
• Capability to work safely around rotating machinery and metalworking equipment.

• Understanding of tooling requirements and basic machine setup is preferred.
• Centerless grinding experience is a plus.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve machining issues.
• Familiarity with CNC equipment is beneficial.
• Experience with grinding, lathes, mills, and general machine shop operations.
• Comfort working with measurement documentation and quality records.

Work Environment

This position is based in a brand-new machining facility focused on metal parts manufacturing for medical device applications, with a strong emphasis on precision and quality. You will work with equipment such as centerless grinders, drill machines, hone machines, milling machines, and related production tools, using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments as part of daily operations. The role is on 2nd shift, working Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., providing a consistent four-day workweek schedule. The environment includes typical machine shop conditions with active production lines, metalworking processes, and safety protocols designed for working around rotating equipment and precision machinery.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Boston, NH.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
