Infusion Registered Nurse

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Infusion Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment in Robinson, Illinois. This role is integral to our infusion department, focusing on providing exceptional direct and indirect patient care.

The Infusion RN will manage a diverse patient population requiring intravenous therapies, including peripheral and central line access, blood product transfusions, and various drug infusions. This position demands a high degree of initiative, flexibility, and professional responsibility, operating with minimal supervision.

Daily responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, administering medications and antineoplastic agents following strict safety protocols, educating patients and families on treatment plans, and collaborating closely with practitioners to adapt care based on patient status and diagnostic results.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including interdisciplinary screenings, pain assessment, and psychosocial needs, ensuring age and culture appropriateness.
• Provide direct patient care, prioritizing needs based on physical and psychosocial factors, adhering to established standards of care.
• Initiate and manage intravenous access via peripheral and central venous devices.
• Administer blood transfusions, drug infusions, and antineoplastic agents safely and effectively, following all protocols and considering patient effects.
• Prepare and administer medications accurately based on patient's age and clinical condition, ensuring continuous medication therapy.
• Educate patients and families thoroughly regarding treatment plans, procedures, follow-up instructions, and medication management.
• Monitor and assess the effectiveness of pain management strategies, revising care plans as indicated by patient response.
• Document all patient care activities, assessments, interventions, and communications in the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely and accurate manner.
• Communicate effectively with practitioners regarding changes in patient status, symptomatology, and diagnostic results.
• Ensure patient safety by adhering to established protocols, utilizing hand-off communication, and maintaining department security.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Prior experience in chemotherapy administration.
