Description

Manage daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) department
Supervise, train, and evaluate HIM staff
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely availability of medical records
Oversee medical record coding, indexing, scanning, and release of information (ROI)
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards
Develop, implement, and update HIM policies and procedures
Monitor and audit documentation and coding practices for quality and compliance, in addition to coding records.
Coordinate with clinical, administrative, and IT departments regarding health information systems
Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems and support system upgrades or implementations
Oversee record retention, storage, and destruction processes
Respond to audits, legal requests, subpoenas, and compliance reviews
Prepare departmental reports, metrics, and performance indicators
Support data quality, privacy, and information security initiatives

Requirements

RHIA or RHIT Credentials

Bachelor's Degree - preferred
