Senior Business Banking Officer

Summary of Role:

To identify, solicit, develop and expand new and existing business relationships throughout the credit union and within our defined region. This role involves assessing credit quality, financial analysis, providing financial solutions, promoting business banking, commercial and cash management product and services (such as loans, lines of credit, cash management solutions, ACH, Merchant Services, etc.) and delivering on overall member experience while supporting the corporate goals. The Senior Business Banking Officer acts as the primary liaison between the branches, contact center and the Commercial Banking team.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

• Develop, prospect and cultivate new and existing business relationships, act as the lead on all small business deals utilizing the lender express program and other loan requests, that include C&I and small CRE, as needed. Specific loan production and high deposit goals are identified and reviewed on a regular basis.
• Competent knowledge of basic credit skills, financial analysis, loan structuring and cash flow with ability to provide loan presentations on Lender Express, C&I and small CRE loans.
• Collaborate with Business Experience and Branch personnel and other departments on member relationships and help generate new market growth specific to new branch locations, market segments and existing branches.
• Assist in identifying and recommending necessary product, policy and guideline changes.
• Team with branch personnel with outside sales calling efforts and community events, when appropriate.
• Provide leadership, training and support to branch personnel and other staff members with loans, deposits and cash management as needed.
• Demonstrates leadership as a mentor to other Business Banking Officers.
• Collaborate with Commercial Services, Business Experience and Marketing on product development and improvements as well as promotional tactics that promote member relationships.
• Become an expert on all business deposit products and platforms and assist in the development of new products and features, including cash management, RDC and credit cards. Actively sell these product lines.
• Utilize the contact management system for current members and new prospects in tracking activity and follow-up action items.
• Partner with Public Relations and Marketing teams on recognizing outside networking events that help source new business and awareness of the Credit Union. Regularly attend outside networking events and other functions.
• Significant existing business network and ability to cultivate an increased outside networking channel that includes various ‘centers of influences’ to build trust and awareness in the market and provide sources for new business loan requests and deposit relationships.
• Strong command of relationship-based prospecting, onboarding and retention.
• Portfolio management that includes financial collection, annual reviews and risk rating updates along with management of CAR’s, matured loans and extensions.
• Periodically review the existing accounts of our members to identify cross-sell opportunities that will maximize the impact of the relationship.
• Extensive knowledge of all deposit products, cash management products, credit cards and merchant services.
• Partner with various departments on ways to improve our member experience around business on-line services (mentioned above).
• Participate in sales and prospecting calls with Branch personnel, Business Services management or Business Development, as needed or deemed appropriate.
• Follow up on all referrals that come to the Credit Union relating to business services and assign them to corresponding parties.
• Conduct internal staff training regarding current campaigns and new product rollouts.
• Maintain an awareness of all laws, regulations, development and trends that may affect business development.
• Ensure compliance with credit union regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor client accounts for potential risks and take proactive steps to mitigate them.
• Work closely with internal teams, including retail banking, business experience, hospitality and wealth management to deliver comprehensive solutions. Provide exceptional service by resolving members inquiries and issues promptly.
• Educate clients on available banking tools and digital platforms to enhance their banking experience.
• Monitor, manage, and maintain assigned business member portfolio including but not limited to annual reviews, matured loans and overall performance of portfolio.
• Strong understanding of policies and regulations to remain in compliance with such things as Reg B, C, E and HMDA.
• Attend and represent the Credit Union at networking events to source new business opportunities and enhance brand awareness.
• Provide input on business banking products and platforms, marketing strategies, and product development to enhance member experience.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the financial services industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience with a track record of performance.
• Experience in sales/business development in the financial services industry is strongly preferred.
• Adept at resolving member conflicts and concerns.
• Communication Abilities - strong in terms of both oral and written communication; must be able to make effective group presentations with a focus on training staff regarding technical and sales areas; Ability to remain calm in tense situations
• Computer Skills – must possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook with ability to learn other software as needed.
• Analytical and credit skill – collects and researches data, uses intuition and experience to compile and analyze data; helps design workflows and procedures as appropriate for department efficiency.
• Problem solving – identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations.
• Interpersonal skills – works well with diverse groups of people; always treats others with respect and dignity; focuses on solving conflict without hostility; works toward achievement of mutual foals.

• Flexibility to travel and represent the credit union at networking events after hours.

Compensation: $77,376-$96,720, plus a competitive benefits package
