Insurance Verification Specialist / Medical Front Desk

We're hiring an experienced Insurance Verification Specialist / Medical Front Desk Representative for a full-time position with a well-established medical practice in North Fresno. This position is primarily responsible for patient check-in and check-out while also verifying insurance coverage and benefits. We're looking for someone who is comfortable working directly with patients and understands the importance of accurate insurance verification before services are provided.

Position Details

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay: $20–$23/hour, depending on experience

Position Type: Full-Time

Location: North Fresno

Start Date: Immediate

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide professional front desk support
• Check patients in and out for appointments
• Verify patient insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits
• Confirm demographic and insurance information is accurate and up to date
• Collect copays and patient responsibility amounts as applicable
• Obtain and update insurance cards and required documentation
• Identify insurance issues and communicate with patients when additional information is needed
• Answer phones and assist with general patient questions
• Coordinate with clinical and billing teams to ensure accurate patient information
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements

Qualifications

• Spanish speaking required Previous medical front desk, patient registration, or insurance verification experience required
• Experience verifying insurance eligibility and benefits
• Strong understanding of medical insurance terminology
• Comfortable handling both front desk patient interaction and insurance verification
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Professional, dependable, and able to work in a busy medical office
• EPIC or other electronic medical record experience is a plus
