Must be willing to float to adult ICU areas, intermediate care, and basic intermediate care floor.Description: The Registered Respiratory Therapist works under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services and provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment. Responsibilities include providing respiratory therapy under medical direction. Focus on the education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation of patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies. Perform intubation assistance as well as ventilator setup and management. Gather all necessary information to properly evaluate patient needs, including disease education and consultations with other healthcare professionals. Develop rapport and mutual respect with patients and caregivers, as well as team members. Provide and document education to patients and caregivers based on identified needs in an understandable manner. Complete other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 5 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 1 hour a day. Regular contact with medical personnel and visitors is required. The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs is essential. A strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of patients and caregivers is required.
