Systems Engineer - Software Packager

Salary: $90,000 - 135,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree plus 6 years of experience in systems engineering and systems programming, or a high school diploma/GED plus 10 years of equivalent experience.
• We look for experience on installation or application packaging teams within a large enterprise environment.
• Experience in banking or financial services is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of macOS and Windows desktop operating systems is needed.
• Extensive hands-on experience with application packaging tools and technologies such as MSI, MSIX, Flexera AdminStudio, App-V, PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit, and PowerShell is required.
• Proficiency in PowerShell automation, SQL queries, and creating custom MECM reports is expected.
• Familiarity with deployment platforms such as MECM/SCCM, Jamf Composer, Intune, BigFix, Ivanti Patch, Patch My PC, and 1E-Shopping is important.
• Solid understanding of the Windows registry, PC security principles, and Group Policy Objects is required.
• Experience troubleshooting desktop issues, including software and hardware problems as well as WMI and MECM client health issues, is needed.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, along with a structured troubleshooting approach, is important.

• We create, test, and deploy secure, compliant application packages across macOS and Windows environments.
• We build and modify software installation packages using industry-standard packaging tools and methods while following enterprise standards and security controls.
• We develop and maintain scripts and wrappers to automate application installation and deployment.
• We implement and manage privilege elevation solutions for software deployments.
• We document packaging procedures and maintain accurate process records.
• We partner with software owners, project stakeholders, and requestors to gather packaging, testing, and deployment requirements.
• We support automated deployment of packaged software using MECM/SCCM and Jamf.
• We test and validate application packages to confirm functionality and compatibility across multiple macOS and Windows versions.
• We troubleshoot and resolve package and application issues, including deployment failures and compatibility concerns.
• We support desktop-related initiatives such as operating system upgrades, deployments, and patching.
• We ensure application packages meet enterprise and industry security standards.
• We apply secure coding practices and incorporate security testing into the development lifecycle.
• We keep systems updated and patched to reduce vulnerabilities and stay ahead of threats.
• We follow strict access controls and least-privilege principles when working with sensitive systems and data.
• We collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to enable smooth software delivery.
• We communicate with end users and stakeholders to collect requirements, share updates, and address concerns.
• We contribute to incident response planning and carry out recovery steps if security incidents occur.
• We create custom reports and complete compliance reporting and change management tasks using deployment and reporting tools.
