Manager – Nutrition Service High School Position Length: 9.5 months. Job Grade: 113. Hourly Rate: $20.14 and up depending on experience. Hours Per Day: 8. Purpose Statement The Manager of the Nutrition Service in a high school is responsible for managing food service activities at assigned sites; organizing food preparation; assisting cafeteria workers with food preparation and serving; verifying availability and quality of food items; providing written reports; and ensuring compliance with mandated health requirements under the direction of the supervisor. Essential Functions Estimate food preparation amounts to meet projected meal requirements and minimize waste. Inspect food and supply deliveries to verify quantity, specifications, and compliance with health requirements. Manage site operations—including monitoring meal accounts and evaluating new products or menus—to provide safe and efficient food services in compliance with nutritional and health requirements. Order food, equipment, and supplies to maintain adequate inventory within budget guidelines. Oversee preparation, cooking, serving, and transportation of food and beverages to meet nutritional and health requirements. Perform functions of other positions within the area of responsibility to ensure adequate coverage of food service operations. Prepare reports and documents such as meal program records, inventory reports, reconciliation reports, cash summaries, and payroll sheets to support written reporting needs. Process receipts to document transactions and prepare deposits for pick‑up. Respond to inquiries from students, staff, and the public to provide information or direction regarding available food items. Train and manage all assigned employees to maximize workforce efficiency and meet shift requirements. Orient new employees to work center and school site processes to provide operational information. Assist other personnel as required to support their work activities. Job Requirements Mental Requirements Learning Development – Level C: Sufficient to read and write technical instructions, understand standardized methods, operate specialized equipment, and perform standard mathematical applications, with technical or vocational training beyond high school (often resulting in certification). Problem Solving – Level 1: Work situations are routine and recurring, requiring attention, concentration, limited discretion, and planning to adequately respond and carry out work activities. Physical Requirements Physical Skill – Level A: Basic physical skill is required; no special coordination beyond normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials. Physical Effort – Level 1: Minimal physical exertion. Most of the job time is sitting with occasional walking; occasional lifting, guiding, and carrying of lightweight materials or equipment. Social Requirements Human Relations Skill – Level B: Patience, well‑developed verbal skills, and the ability to exchange technical or complex information with individuals or small informal groups; skills in establishing harmonious relationships and gaining cooperation. Scope of Contacts – Level 1: Primary contacts are with peers in the immediate work group and immediate supervisor; occasional contact with individuals outside the organization may occur. Work Environment Performance Environment – Level A: Changes in environments, work pressure, disturbances, and irregularities in work schedule are infrequent. Physical Working Conditions – Level 3: Frequent exposure to moderately hazardous conditions presenting significant threat to health and safety, with undesirable assignments. Accountability Level of Accountability – Level C: Responsible for performing work requiring advanced job skills and responding to work situations within minimal guidance or direction; may be responsible for training, guiding others, and reviewing their work. Organizational Impact – Level 1: Work results impact the immediate work section with little effect beyond, facilitating services to others in the specific work group. Experience, Education, and Certifications Job‑related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required. High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card while employed. Serv‑Safe certification. Compensation Details FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt. Pay Schedule: Hourly – Grade 113.
