Description
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education – O. D. degree received from an accredited college of Optometry is required.
Experience – A minimum of one (1) year relevant experience.
Licenses & Certification – Must possess Valid License issued by the State of Oklahoma to practice Optometry.
Knowledge & Skills –
- Professional knowledge of the principles and practices of organization and management as they relate to optometric care delivery programs, administration procedures; practice of the method and techniques of program administration and evaluation.
- Knowledge and skill to direct the Eye Clinic toward achieving established goals and objectives while raising the health status of the resident Indian population through the integration of optometric care delivery.
- Knowledge and skill in administrative, program or managerial experience in areas such as support services, financial management, budget, personnel management, planning and contracting management analysis.
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients and their families, medical and administrative staff, health care professionals, and the general public both orally and in writing.
JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the position is to provide quality optometric care services to patients at the assigned Health Center. This is an Exempt position as applicable to the provisions of the FLSA.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office and clinical environment which may bring incumbent in personal contact with infectious communicable diseases. Must be aware of all risks involved taking necessary precautions as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires the demands of normal office and clinical work and may require travel driving a GSA vehicle.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for planning and coordinating and performing day-to-day operations of optometric care delivery to the Indian population served in a responsible, respectful, caring manner. Maintains reporting schedules to assure transmittal within prescribed periods and due dates. Interprets and assigns instructions relating to reporting functions and activities.
- Participates with Department Staff in planning for and suggesting changes in policy and procedures and, implementation of same for the betterment of the operation. Interprets and explains Program policies, objectives, regulations and procedures and recommends necessary action to ensure compliance on the part of the employees, applicants, participating physicians, dentists, laboratories and others concerned with the services.
- Responsible for recording all patient care examinations and procedures in the appropriate health records in compliance with professional community standards and other available guidelines. Most tasks are of average optometric professional difficulty.
- Assists in the planning and implementation of Program events such as Advisory Committee, Professional Education Conference and Patient Education Committee.
- Works closely with and Clinic Staff to implement programs and plan activities.
- Participates in continuing education activities to increase professional knowledge and experience. Maintains and attains required professional certifications.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Performs other duties as required.
