Security Specialist

Summary

This position is part of the Air Force Elements U.S. Transportation Command.

Duties

As a SECURITY SPECIALIST at the GSsome of your typical work assignments may include:

• Serve as the Command Physical Security (PHYSEC) Officer.
• Serve as the JECCs Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Officer and principle expert on all matters relating to AT/FP programs and operations within the JECC clamancy.
• Serve as the Command Industrial Security Officer (INDSEC) and administers the INDSEC program for the command.
• Advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies procedures and directives of management.
• Serves as the Command Information Security (INFOSEC) Officer and Command Operational Security (OPSEC) Officer.

• The incumbent of this position is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (Special Sensitive) security clearance
• The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. This is a Key Position.
• This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.
• This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions
• Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years
• This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-12 if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:

• Planning Executing Reviewing Scheduling Coordinating and Controlling assigned Physical Security activities and programs throughout an agency.
• Developing new procedures instruction and updates for command-wide policy and programs in response to emerging technology developments and expanded security requirements.
• Planning executing coordinating and controlling assigned Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection activities and programs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.

Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M DoD Security Accreditation and Certification.

The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7 Screening the Ready Reserve
