You will bring a sharp visual news sense and strong digital design skills to enhance content across our website, mobile app, and social media platforms, including availability to work across a 24/7 roster for breaking news events. About the role: Design and produce static and interactive graphics, maps, and timelines for breaking news, politics, and lifestyle content. Create engaging branded digital assets and article thumbnails, potentially designing visuals for viral YouTube commentary videos one day and high-quality political infographics the next. Translate complex data and statistics from government datasets and official releases into clear, accurate, and visually engaging formats. Apply strong editorial and visual judgment to image selection, editing, and licensing across news articles and digital content on News24.com.au. Respond quickly to breaking news events, turning around maps, locator graphics, and charts to support live coverage. Maintain and apply News24's visual style guide consistently across all graphic output and recurring major event coverage. Support broader News24 business initiatives through the production of high-quality visual assets, including presentations, commercial collateral, and podcast artwork. Who are you? You are proficient in digital graphic design and data visualization using industry-standard design tools. You have expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Photoshop and Premiere Pro); experience with Canva or other digital design platforms is advantageous. You have strong typography skills and a deep understanding of digital layout principles. You demonstrate a strong visual news sense and the ability to identify images and graphics that engage digital audiences. You are a fast worker who thrives under pressure and tight deadlines in a rapid newsroom environment. You are adaptable and prepared to work a 24/7 roster, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays. You are required to submit a portfolio showcasing examples of still imagery designs, motion graphics/animations, and corporate work to support your application.
