Job Description

This role focuses on preparing and assembling light meals, salads, sandwiches, and other ready-to-serve food items while maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment. You will support daily meal service, provide friendly customer service, and ensure that all food safety and quality standards are consistently met in a fast-paced cafeteria setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assemble sandwiches, wraps, salads, fruit cups, and other light meal items according to established standards.

• Portion, package, and label food products accurately and consistently.

• Assist with meal service and food distribution to guests, patients, students, or employees.

• Follow recipes and preparation guidelines to ensure quality, consistency, and portion control.

• Maintain proper food temperatures and strictly adhere to food safety regulations.

• Stock food, supplies, and service areas to ensure continuous and efficient service.

• Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, equipment, utensils, and workstations throughout the shift.

• Wash dishes and assist with general kitchen cleanup duties as needed.

• Monitor inventory levels and promptly notify supervisors when stock is low.

• Provide friendly, professional, and customer-focused service at all times.

• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and sanitation guidelines to support a safe and compliant operation.

Essential Skills

• Food preparation experience, including assembling sandwiches, salads, and other ready-to-serve items.

• Exp in food prep, line cook, food production, or similar food service work.

• Customer service orientation with the ability to interact professionally with a variety of guests.

• Knowledge of food handling and sanitation procedures and commitment to food safety.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen and service staff.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• 6 months to 1 year of food service, cafeteria, deli, catering, or restaurant experience preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in cafeteria, deli, catering, or restaurant environments.

• Previous line cook or general labor experience in a food production setting.

• Ability to follow written recipes and verbal instructions accurately.

• Strong attention to detail in portioning, labeling, and maintaining food quality.

• Reliability and punctuality to support consistent meal service schedules.

Work Environment

This position operates in a cafeteria environment with air conditioning, providing a comfortable indoor setting. The schedule runs from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, offering consistent daytime hours. You will spend most of your shift on your feet in a fast-paced food service area, working with standard kitchen equipment, food preparation tools, and dishwashing stations while following established safety and sanitation practices.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.94 - $16.94/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
