Job Description

The Postpartum RN will provide high-quality care to mothers and newborns in a couplet care setting. The ideal candidate will have expertise in newborn assessments, vital signs, complex feeding, and medication administration, including infusion therapies. Responsibilities include monitoring maternal and infant health, providing education, and ensuring safe transition home after delivery.

Responsibilities

• Perform newborn care assessments and vital sign monitoring
• Administer medications and oversee complex feeding and phototherapy
• Conduct glucose screening and manage postpartum care protocols
• Provide education to parents on infant care and breastfeeding
• Administer magnesium, insulin, PCA/PCEA, and heparin infusions
• Ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2 years of experience in a postpartum or newborn care setting
• Current BLS and NRP certifications
• IBCLC certification is preferred
• Must be skilled in magnesium and insulin infusions, PCA administration, and heparin usage
