Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.Duties of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) include, but are not limited to:Assessing, planning, coordinating, evaluating, and delegating the delivery of skilled patient care.Providing comprehensive emergency care to stable and critically ill patients.Exercising excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to be a strong team member.Providing patient education.Using critical thinking skills in making decisions regarding patient care, which includes knowledge and integration of relevant standards, resources, and data.Operating specialized medical equipment such as defibrillator, LUCAS, electrocardiogram, oxygen flowmeter, IV pump, bladder scanner, etc.Initiating a patient's plan of care based on assessment and provider's orders.Having continuous contact with physicians, patients, patient families/significant others, community agencies, patient care staff, and management.Having and maintaining current ACLS certification and be an active member of the facility code team.Utilizing correct personal protective equipment (PPE) when providing care for patients with suspected infectious diseases.Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Day/Night rotating shifts to include weekends & holidaysTelework: Not AvailableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: May be authorized for eligible, highly qualified applicants.
