The Opportunity Safety Technician at a growth-oriented downstream energy company. The Safety Technician supports HSSE performance at the refinery and the company's "Success is NO Accident" R.I.C.H safety philosophy by providing field-level safety coverage, safety training, program support, inspections, audits, documentation, and Stop Work Authority. This role supports operations, maintenance, contractor work, projects, loading areas, pipeline facilities, and turnaround activities. The Safety Technician conducts daily field audits, verifies compliance with WRC JSAs and work procedures, monitors high-risk work, confirms hazard controls, supports permit-to-work activities, participates in incident investigations, and promotes safe work practices across the site. The Safety Technician must be knowledgeable in OSHA Health and Safety regulations for General Industry, 29 CFR 1910, and Construction, 29 CFR 1926, as applicable. The role supports implementation, auditing, training, documentation, and continuous improvement of company safety programs, including safe work practices, permit-to-work, PPE, respiratory protection, hazard communication, confined space, hot work, Lock Out Tag Out, fall protection, excavation, lifting, and work at heights. The Safety Technician documents findings, tracks corrective actions, and helps close gaps identified through inspections, audits, and field observations. The Safety Technician is expected to communicate the company safety philosophy and actively encourage employees and contractors to maintain safe work practices. The role requires field presence, hazard recognition, confidence to intervene, and willingness to stop work when serious safety risks or imminent danger are identified.

Work Environment The Safety Technician will work in refinery process units, maintenance areas, shops, loading areas, outdoor industrial environments, and administrative settings. The role may involve exposure to heat, cold, noise, heights, confined spaces, chemicals, and active construction or maintenance work. Required PPE may include hard hat, safety glasses, FRC, gloves, hearing protection, respiratory protection, fall protection, and gas monitoring equipment

Qualifications To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. Required High school diploma or GED Ability to work safely in a refinery environment and wear required PPE Valid driver's license Strong field observation, hazard recognition, communication, documentation, and follow-up skills Ability to intervene when unsafe conditions are observed and use Stop Work Authority when needed Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, safe work practices, permit-to-work systems, confined space, hot work, Lock Out Tag Out, fall protection, hazard communication, PPE, and respiratory protection Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and turnaround schedules as required Preferred Minimum 2 years of industrial safety, refinery safety, HSSE training, or related field experience Refinery, petrochemical, chemical plant, oil and gas, loading, rail, pipeline, or heavy industrial experience OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, HAZWOPER, or related safety certification Experience using Safety Manager, Navigator, SCORM training files, or other training database systems Experience conducting safety training, orientations, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and contractor safety oversight Additional qualifications include: Interpersonal and communication skills: Communicates effectively with employees, contractors, visitors, supervisors, and leadership. The role includes public speaking, toolbox talks, orientations, and training classes for individuals or groups. Organization and data management: Maintains training, inspection, audit, OSHA, and program records. The role requires proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn and maintain systems such as Safety Manager, Navigator, or other site databases.
