About the Role:

The SCO Castroom Technician plays a critical role in the healthcare environment by preparing, maintaining, and managing the castroom to ensure efficient and safe application of orthopedic casts and splints. This position is responsible for supporting medical staff by preparing materials, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The technician will work closely with orthopedic specialists to facilitate patient care, ensuring that all castroom operations run smoothly and effectively. Attention to detail and adherence to protocols are essential to prevent infection and guarantee patient comfort and safety. Ultimately, the role contributes significantly to the quality of patient outcomes in orthopedic treatment and rehabilitation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare environment.
• Experience or training in medical equipment sterilization and maintenance.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification or coursework related to orthopedic casting or medical assisting.
• Previous experience working in a healthcare or orthopedic setting.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Basic first aid and CPR certification.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with medical staff and patients.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain the castroom environment, including sterilizing and organizing tools and materials used for casting and splinting.
• Assist healthcare professionals by setting up necessary equipment and supplies prior to patient procedures.
• Monitor inventory levels of casting materials and order supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted service.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety regulations within the castroom.
• Maintain accurate records of materials used and assist in documentation related to patient care and equipment maintenance.

The SCO Castroom Technician utilizes their organizational and technical skills daily to prepare and maintain a sterile and efficient castroom environment. Attention to detail is critical when sterilizing equipment and managing inventory to ensure patient safety and procedural readiness.
