Diesel Technician Mechanic

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Raleigh, NC — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about. Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour Benefits and Compensation Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained (up to $700) Retention Bonus: $0 Every Year on Your Anniversary (placeholder) Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday Hours: Second Shift Tuesday - Friday 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm; Saturday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO your first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Build your skills – paid training Safety‑first workplace & State‑of‑the‑art equipment Top Tech Competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year U.S. military veterans – extra paid day off 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tech tuition repayment 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to specific eligibility criteria, including work tenure) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred Basic tools, required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) required Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience preferred Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A preferred Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test Pass a DOT physical Pass a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Perform standard vehicle maintenance Perform standard component inspections and repairs Perform preventive maintenance Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required Replace defective components as instructed Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task Utilize key functions of the shop management system and electronic documentation available Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including but not limited to Service Island support Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug‑Free workplace.
