Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital - Norfolk, VA Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week Shift: Days Weekends: Every other weekend availability required Holiday Rotation: Required Oncology 6 RP Unit Overview Unit Overview The Neuro IMCU is a blended unit focusing on all neuro patients, including stroke patients, back and neck post-surgical patients, and has one of the few Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) in the area. Who we serve We provide highly skilled care to the following types of neuroscience patients: Back and Neck surgical patients Epilepsy patients All neurosurgeries (brain, pituitary, etc.) Stroke patients (surgical and non-surgical) What you will achieve The opportunity to work with top-notched neurosurgeons and neurologists The opportunity to develop strong neuro skills that can help you prepare for the neuro ICU The opportunity to train in the epilepsy monitoring unit, most importantly, you will be part of a growing team that provides exceptional care to a specialized population of patients Learn more about 5RP Neuro IMCU: Education Requirements Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required, graduate degree preferred. One year of Management experience required 2 years experience in a support leadership RN position, i.e. Unit Coordinator, Team Lead, or other like position may be accepted in lieu of 1 year formal management experience. Certification/Licensure Requirements Registered Nurse license required Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire Experience Requirements Three years of RN experience required The Clinical Nurse Manager has overall accountability for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas. Supervises patient care services staff, ensures excellent patient safety and quality outcomes as well as extraordinary patient/family experience. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, developing and retaining staff with the goal of developing a highly reliable team. Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills to achieve unit and corporate goals. Assists in the development and monitoring of unit budget, coordinates purchasing and payroll processes and serves as a clinical resource to team members.
