Surgical Technologist - Days - Vail, CO
This is a 13-week contract position with a schedule of 3x12s.
As a Surgical Technologist, you will assist during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing necessary instrumentation to the surgical team. You will be an essential part of unit activities that assure high levels of quality related to patient care, functioning under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities:
- Possess expertise in sterile and aseptic technique, knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies for invasive procedures.
- Maintain and check items for proper packaging, processing, and expiration dates, ensuring a safe operating room environment.
- Monitor sterile fields for contamination events and notify the supervising nurse of corrective actions needed.
- Develop competency with Tier 1 surgical cases.
- Assist in patient transport, room turnovers, and preparation of surgical rooms.
- Engage in effective communication with the perioperative team during time-out processes, including briefings and debriefings.
- Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Model professional behavior and maintain current knowledge of new technologies and procedures.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:
- Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or licensed as a Surgical Technologist in the state of Colorado.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
- Ability to meet computer skills necessary for job-specific competencies and effective communication in English.
